Recently you may have been given some “misinformation” about the various food stuffs which have run out on Liverpool 2018.

We don' have a blame culture here on our boat and I won't name names, but it was Pat. Pat Kavanagh lied to you he did!

Here are my responses to some of the blatant falsehoods that he gave, stating that we had run out of:

1.Butter - OK this one is true.

2.Onions - This one might also be true... but common sense did not prevail in Onion Gate. Who uses 6 kilos of onions for a soup? Seriously Pat!

3.Milk - We have all the dried milk a boat could ever dream of. We could have real milk but that weighs too much. C'mon Pat we're racing.

4.Red Jam – Fine, whatever...

5.Chocolate – 100% lies! I have all the chocolate and you'll get it when you earn it Pat!

6.Crisps – Pat you ate every single packet! All 736 of them. Little do you know I have a secret stash for when my watch is on deck.

7.Fresh Vegetables – You try find veggies that will last 5 weeks and survive an equator crossing. Plus we still have butternut squash and sweet potatoes – I think you're just being a bit sensitive my dear. And Smash, everyone loves Smash!

8.Steak as of 10 minutes ago – This was a one-off meal to celebrate our equator crossing. Way to throw it back in my face Pat. Also learn to chew your meat ya animal.

9.Mustard – You had a boy look. It was in the cupboard the whole time.

So look, that's about all I have to say on these matters. I love you Big P but you need to get your facts straight. When you finally open up Pat's Caff then you can come to me for victualling advice.

Joking aside - it has been a steep learning curve with both the sailing and feeding (what feels like the masses!) and there are things I will do differently on Leg 2. However, I wouldn't change anything from this leg. I have loved every second of it.

So Pat....here are a few of my favourite things!

Our weird, wonderful and hilarious crew, that get weirder and more wonderful on a dark night watch

The team spirit, when things go badly or there is some woolling to be done, the off watch jumps up to help.....or when a squall hits, we need to drop the code 1, the entire crew are soaked to the skin and all you can hear is laughing.

The amount we are all learning about the boat, everyone shares all the sailing roles and jobs on board, we may not all be great at everything, but we are getting the chance to learn and the crew who do have more experience are stepping up and coaching.

And keeping positive, we have had some really bad luck with the joy of wind holes and a few other issues which have seen our position in the fleet fluctuate quite dramatically. However instead of dwelling, or getting down we use it as a learning, draw a line and move on.

So that’s it from me, we are all looking forward to getting to Nanos house! Talk has been focusing on what we will do first when hitting dry land. So far booze is looking like a strong front runner!
