It's now Day 17 of the race. We are under white sails again, still heading down the coast of Mexico. Now however, we can see it... yes readers .. we can see land. And along with land, we have seen a bit of wildlife: more dolphins, a pod of orcas, quite a few turtles and some sharks. None of which were particularly close to the boat, but the sighting of each brought everyone on deck with oohs, ahhs, cameras, phones and debates amongst all the budding marine biologists onboard to what the various sightings actually were.

It's getting hot... no, let me rephrase that... It's getting hotter... much hotter. And according to our skipper, it's only going to get worse. The only places of respite are on deck in the shade, or in the sail locker - a space worth fighting for, I can tell you.

Other than the heat, it has been a good, if frustrating, few days. Very light winds which of course means slow progress. But it's still up for grabs. We keep pushing, keeping our concentration levels up. Hoping that by doing so, we can sail faster than the boats in front and catch them... keep your fingers crossed.
