Taking the Long way Home (bonus points if you can name the band). Five days since we left New York and we are following our own strategy to get us to Derry Londonderry.

There is a lot at stake for us as we have played our Joker for double points on this this race so this has a motivating effect for the crew. Sail trimming has been a constant since our Le Mans Start on Tuesday. That has not stopped us from enjoying some great sunsets and sunrises as well as watching the Moon wax to full last night.

Life on a lean is back with a vengeance; a bit of a surprise for the new members of the crew. Clipper Race Climbing lessons never formed part of training in Gosport, neither does bailing out your cubby-hole where you keep your stuff. But it is being done and we are moving on at a pace.

We have returning crew, who have done previous legs and also new joiners. so a good mix of experience and enthusiasm.

The Atlantic is a big ocean and the sea state and breeze has steadily increased from the start. Again in this wide space we have seen lots of life, whales and dolphins at the start, one whale deciding to nudge the boat, which caused a certain amount of deja vu among the RTW'ers and now we are seeing a fair amount of birds, wheeling and soaring through the waves. None have attempted a landing on the boat yet! We shall see.

We have received updates on the Football World cup. After watching matches in New York there is a following amongst some of the crew. Wonder how some of those soccer players would cope with the physicality of a racing yacht?

From the mighty PSP Logistics in the Atlantic, our best wishes to family, friends and supporters.
