An uneventful day with most of the crew still reeling from the UK’s decision to exit the EU. The lighter winds have allowed several leggers including Joe and Frank to have helming lessons and the helming roster has been mixed up a bit, with Sarah helming for several hours.

However as the boat levels off some of the crew seem to have energy to burn as we try to crawl around the corner of the icebox with some of the conversation becoming frank enough to make me blush. Apparently the crew have been binge watching Californication. This combined with thoughts of life after the race and thoughts of on land comforts may have flavoured the current chatter.

Aside from all that, it's been interesting to see the fleet and shipping compress around the icebox, with several other boats visible to the eye. Having a visual on competitors wakes up the competitive spirit in everyone, resulting in crowds in the nav station.

I have continued to obsess with food, last night’s dinner was roast port with stuffing, roast sweet potatoes and a cabbage and garlic gratin. Lunch was tortellini with pesto and artichokes.

On £3.50 per person per day....I'm feeling pretty pleased with my menus and impressed by the current dinner mothering team of Daniel, Jane and AJS.
