One of the highlights of Race Start week in Liverpool was the official naming of all 12 of the Clipper Race yachts. Race partners invited business guests and the Race Crew to celebrate each yacht’s Naming Ceremony – a much loved tradition of the Race Start week by all involved, officially signifying the start of each yacht’s journey.
Clipper Race Wine Partner Stormhoek gifted each yacht a magnum of champagne which, after speeches from Sir Robin and the Team Partner, was sprayed over the bow to officially name each of the yachts.
Liverpool 2018 kicked off the Naming Ceremonies with a brunch reception which was hosted by the Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, and attended by local news outlets as he launched the Liverpool 2018 campaign.
HotelPlanner.com, PSP Logistics and Visit Seattle followed suit that same day offering the opportunity for partners to really engage with skippers and crew, creating true brand ambassadors.
Friday was a busy day with Unicef, Dare To Lead, GREAT Britain, Greenings, Qingdao and Garmin all being officially named, each showcasing a unique twist to represent themselves as crew and as their partners. Nasdaq and Sanya brought the naming ceremonies to a close on Saturday evening where the teams and their supporters all came together ahead of the start of the race the next morning.
