Yesterday saw some tight racing as we raced LMAX Exchange around the Butt of Lewis and across the Minch. About 100 nautical miles were covered with no more than 0.5 of a nautical mile between boats. The wind built to over 30 knots but with a flat sea state we both held our spinnakers with speeds in the high teens.

Our focus was making it through the Pentland Firth before the strong tide turned against us and it was all looking good before the wind shut off and the frontrunners parked up. The rest of the fleet came racing up behind us and the 5 nautical mile lead that ourselves and LMAX Exchange had built up over the previous day vanished.

As I write this we now have wind and the tide is on the turn. With a bit of luck we'll get flushed through the Pentland Firth and be on our way to Holland.
