Shifty wind, coastal sailing with plenty of tide, traffic and good competition has meant that the crew and myself have been kept busy keeping the boat going with best speed to the finish line.

The night barely got dark with a bright horizon late into the night and then a bright full moon in a cloudless sky. Lots of reefing and tacking kept us moving in the right direction.

The wind increased steadily until the point where we considered changing to our smaller Yankee. Our decision was made for us and we fought down our big Yankee in 50+ knots of breeze surrounded by fork lightning with the air full of rain and spray.

Since then we have cleared the storm cloud, got our sails up again and we're pushing hard with just over 300 nautical miles to go.
