At just 378NM south-east of Iceland we rounded Rockall, around midnight last night. To put that in perspective, London to Inverness is about the same distance. Rathlin Island, where of course we are headed for now, is only 90NM less from Rockall and we are due to round in about 36 hours’ time. I hadn't appreciated quite how close Iceland is to north-west Scotland and the Hebrides.

So we are still in close company with Unicef, although this mark rounding she is ahead of us but there is a bit to go yet..!

The forecast is for our current downwind state to change over the next few hours to light and probably variable winds from the west, before being hard on the wind in strong south westerlies before we know it.

I hope that air flow then stays around long enough for us to reach the finish line after Rathlin - if it doesn’t we'll be at the mercy of the tide in very little breeze.

We shall see.. Peter//
