We've only been racing for less than 4 days I think and I already have no idea what day of the week it is. Not to tempt fate, and looking at the forecast there's no need to, but at around 0001 last night, we finally got the wind from the west, gybed and got going on a steady south-east course as previously expected. Up until that point, yesterday was ALL over the place!

Winds became cyclonic and ranged between 3 and 12 knots! Randomly coming from pretty much any direction with thunderstorms overhead and a sloppy sea state, it made for shutting of eyes, shaking of head and muttering 'seriously?' quite often. But, with lots of this ways and that ways, ups and downs, we gave it our best shot of moving in the right direction for as great a time as possible (or so we think). Nothing else could have been done and we are now in relativly close proximity to a few others with very light weather forecast before the end of the day. So…I fear we will be close by night fall but not going very fast.

Peter.
