Well a particularly crappy morning off the west coast of Scotland, the sea state was bumpy, the rain was relentless and the fog was thick, altogether not great for enjoyable sailing. However, we did have wind and wind from behind the beam which is great!

About 0530 yesterday we were able to again hoist the kite as the wind came round and it has been flying since, apart from a small 45 minute period where we discovered a small hole and decided it was better to get it down and repair it before it became a large tear.

At this point we put up our Yankee 1 in the interim and lost a lot of distance on the fleet, watching with dismay as Qingdao (morning Skipper Bob) and IchorCoal (morning Skipper Rich) came flying by with their kites still flying! Well we will not take this lying down and have been fighting hard all day to retrieve some of those miles, somewhat successfully! There is still a few miles in this race yet!

Lasagne last night was a triumph and absolutely delicious, washed down with lashings of fruit and custard. Just what you need on a cold Scottish evening!

Tomorrow, just for a change and in honour to our hosting coastline, we will be having porridge for breakfast.

Breaking news for those fans of my pants changing! I started the race with a new pair as I always do and I have changed them before 24 hours! No I did not have an accident! I even brushed my teeth twice. Acclimatisation before returning home I suppose!

This morning was eventful...well actually it really wasn't as there was no wind, as expected as we came up to the Pentland Firth at the top of Scotland between the Orkney islands and mainland Scotland. So the whole fleet concertinaed and everyone was fighting in little wind to get the advantage, all the while against a foul tide. The tide is about to turn as I send this blog so we will see who comes out on top.

Until tomorrow...
