Hello,

Yesterday saw us making good progress towards Rathlin in sunshine and a more relaxed atmosphere. Regular visits from pilot whales kept us entertained and the sea state and conditions allowed chance for more of the team to helm Unicef. The afternoon wind conditions slowed us up considerably more than expected and we didn’t achieve our hoped for progress in preparation for absorbing the new winds of the incoming fronts. Our position will suffer as a result.

The medium-weight spinnaker is all repaired after an amazing effort by the team and yesterday morning the conditions allowed an ascent to the mast head to re-attach a block and re-reeve the spinnaker halyard.

Random Automatic Identification System ID#s of the other Clipper 70 yachts heading out to Rockall have sometimes showed on the screen. Best speed to them on a grey morning.

All good, Cloughy
