160 miles off Cadiz, the sea is flat calm, with white puffy clouds and striking blue skies. I am surround by my wonderful crew mates, putting sun cream on, whipping lines, servicing winches, taping the shrouds and recovering from the galley duty. All are busy.
We also have our down time, and also, just over an hour ago, seven of us leapt of the side of the boat, into the beautiful cool sea. This was very much appreciated, as we had not had a shower for eight days.
We are consolidating many of the skills that we have learnt through our training; at present we are towing; Bekezela.
Earlier we transferred fuel across to Zhuhai. Our South African Skipper Ryan shared a bottle of Irn-Bru. I was hoping to consume it all myself on the basis of Scotland winning the rugby game yesterday (Rugby World Cup), but unfortunately, we were beaten 18-3 by SA, and my bottle of Irn-Bru was lost, but Ryan gave me half back as a consolation.
Many highlights over the last eight days; it’s hard to list all of them.
The high winds and strong waves were very exciting; with waves at 5 meters and one gust up to 48 knots.
At one point, I was on the foredeck with Charlie and Steven, and the waves were crashing over our heads. Double-tethered, perfectly safe and exhilarating.
