Day 4 of our transatlantic journey and every day brings us closer to my home city of Derry.
The crew ask me about the attractions that the city has?
I could tell them about:
The lovely hotels,
The wonderful selection of restaurants,
from Turkish to Thai,
from Lebanese to Chinese.
I could boast about our array of pubs,
One to suit every customer.
I could surprise them by informing them that golf courses for the British and Irish Open
competitions are less than 30 miles from the city.
I could tell of the beauty of the North Antrim coastline or the wonderful Donegal beaches
on Derry’s doorstep.
I could amaze them by telling of the dramatic surfing beaches within two hours of our city.
I could let them know of our fabulous museums and the great guides who bring to life the
history of the city.
All these elements add to our wonderful city, but what makes Derry such a unique place is its people and the welcome that the Clipper Race and all the crews will receive when they arrive in my city.
I am so looking forward to sailing up the Foyle.
