Another Day
Another day
another dawn
another fifteen Race miles gone
As seabirds soar
in azure sky
fourteen more miles go sailing by
When kites go up
the sea is clear
thirteen miles just disappear
As darkness falls
stars lead the way
on a twelve mile average day
With no one near
except in space
eleven miles come off our race
Under grey skies
sailing fast
ten more miles go shooting past
At thirty-five
on upwind beat
to make nine more was quite a feat
Standing here
feet braced, knees locked
on helm another eight miles clocked
The date line past
the day repeats
another seven miles we eat
Stuck in a wind hole
time to reflect
but six more miles we still collect
Sail change, watch change
endless graft
the distance to Seattle halved
No time to rest
work hard, be bold an’
we might just make the pennant golden.
