How it is as a German on a British boat?
A lot to laugh about.
Dancing and singing - and during sail changes at night, 100% concentration and discipline.
We are on this leg a team of 19, including the British skipper and AQP, one Canadian, one Kiwi, 9 Brits, 2 Irish, 2 German, 1 Russian, and 1 Dutch. Interesting conversations and also a lot of nonsense talks.
The mood is always great, especially when we surf the 4m waves down at 20km speed. Everyone has their time at the helm.
We do magic to make the best food out of the meal plan.
“How would you like to have your tea?” “Black? With sugar, no sugar? White? Two sugar?”
Tea is holy!
And I still dare to drink coffee ….
And better be a Monty Python fan! I’m a returning legger to Leg 8 after I broke my arm on Leg 1. Not only that they name the area of the companionway “Anja’s Alley“, but they also added extra wood on the floor (where I slipped) so that the next time I can break even my ankles on the wood…
No worries, of course, they care.
My fate on this boat does not depend on the European football championship even when it is a constant topic: the English and the German football teams are hopefully going to meet on the 14th of July when we all are watching the game together in a Scottish pub in Oban.
