Dreams
Sailing in the Clipper Raceis, I think for all of us, a dream come true. We all started this race with dreaming; about crossing an ocean, sail racing, the wildlife, starry nights, become part of a race team, expanding experience and learning new skills. We had our interview. Took the decision to sign up. And then jumped into the whole process of practical things like training, packing, organising.
With slipping the lines on Sunday 25th June I realised that I literately stepped back into my dream. A marvellous Parade of Sail in Washington, DC. Went down on the Potomac, crossed Chesapeake Bay on our way to the Le Mans start on the Atlantic.
In the mean time had a lovely time, good fun, nice weather, good food and interesting conversations.
Talking to fellow crew mates I realised we all dream more on board and about different things aswell. There is a saying that if you have a dream you must share this with three people and ask for their vision on your dream. From these three interpretations you can form the message or meaning of your dream.
So we started to share our dreams.
Richard dreamed about a white shed with open windows at the back of CV21. The residence of our skipper Max. Anja dreamed that she was on a ranch in California and Daniel Craig was there also. And we heard in the cockpit that Phil had a nightmare. I dreamed that the Clipper Race fleet passed my little village in the Netherlands. I was allowed to visit some friends when the boats passed the dock but I could not find the boats afterwards. Our medic Katie even thinks there is a relation between eating cheese and the type of dream.
But I also noticed that this last leg has also another layer of dreaming. Which is about overthinking plans for the future. What are we dreaming about. Jobs, new adventures. Where, when, with whom… What’s next?
Keep on sharing, keep on dreaming
