At the Crew Brief, we were told that during the first days of the race, there wasn’t going to be a lot of wind and it would be a downwind start. Well...it wasn’t that. It was a close hauled cause with quite some wind for the first three days. “Nice experiences of what Leg 6 was like.”

On Tuesday, the wind turned more from the north so the spinnaker went up, only the wind was around 30 knots. Not really nice for the first days with the spinnaker especially with a group of people mostly starting in Seattle. My watch was from one to seven and it was crazy. Every half hour something happened and we would tidy up and think, “Well we survived that” and then something else would happen. It was really stressful but also really fun.

We put Reef 1 in, gybed, crossed Dare To Lead, saw that they didn’t have a reef, so shook Reef 1 out, gybed again (didn’t go really well), put Reef 1 in again and that was half the watch. It was chaos but we laughed a lot.

Now the wind has eased and the sun is out and it is really nice on deck so it's more chill vibes and spinnaker gybes. Everyone is still happy and the vibe on board is really good!

However, the more elderly group of people is getting a bit jealous of the new younger people that can get easily under the traveller. The “elderly” group is really just Joss being jealous.
