Even Racing, not all moments are rushed

Thanks for stopping by!

We are racing for sure! Race 1 missing out on 4th by 400m and holding 5th by 200m in a crazy close 1200+nm race. Race 2 on our way to Uruguay. Scoring Gate race just squeezing in ahead of Yacht Club Punta Del Este (9 seconds for 2nd). Other internal races, like when a sail pops up on the horizon, and competitions between watches for top speed. All of this is what I continue to look forward to for the next ten months.

I captured this photo last night. We were searching for wind in the doldrums, and it made me stop and think about my race to date. From Level 1 to the end of the first race to Puerto Sherry, I have thrown myself 100% into improving my skills (maybe not as much helming as needed yet.) I jump at any job and there have been times where I literally not been able to put a simple sentence together as I have exhausted myself. I have been reminded that this is a marathon not a sprint for round the world crew.

Mike asked if I would head up the sail repair team, I agreed. Sewing is something else that I knew nothing about. From learning that donuts were not food on a boat, to teaching crew how to make them in a week was a challenge.

This is a vertical challenge so far and I still have a smile a mile wide. For moments in the picture and all the rest to come.

ON! ON! PSP!
