Wow! We are finally underway after months, even years, of preparation. In just five days at sea, we are all different sailors. The race has had many different sailing conditions for us to deal with and all is going smoothly so far. Our first day was light wind but from then on winds and seas increased testing our balance and quickness.

Our race has encountered all types of weather which have demanded strength and focus. All crew are working well together and for some of us we are remembering where each control line is located and effectively used. Watch changes are a busy and crowded time in the salon, where foul weather gear is hung. A crew of ten all getting clothes on while healed over at 30-40 degrees is an acquired skill.

We have enjoyed some beautiful sunny days, some starlit nights, visits from several dolphins, and yesterday evening a whale.

I suspect that we are all missing our families and friends and learning to deal with that in our own ways. Ahh, another 3 days till a hot shower!!!
