Sailing in June

When writing this diary, we have just escaped from the dense fishing net area and swarms of fishing boats in the south of Hainan Island. The visibility at night is average. As the new duty leader of this stage, I guided everyone to hurriedly reduce the sail while observing the surroundings. The road conditions were so good that we had to avoid obstacles several times.

Just after midnight, Jo suddenly reminded everyone that today is exactly six months since we set off from Portsmouth. Unknowingly, we have spent half a year at sea, crossing five continents and three oceans. I clearly remember being at a loss when changing the sail at the start of the race. I was not even sure which winch should be used. Now I am entrusted with the important task of becoming one of the only watch captains on the ship to guide and lead half of the crew to perform various operations during the voyage. In six months of sailing, I went from being a fledgling sailor who was exposed to transoceanic racing for the first time to now having accumulated thousands of nautical miles behind me. In the past six months, I have sailed with four captains, crossed the equator twice, passed through countless storms and wind tunnels, and sailed day and night. In the process, I also got to know people from all walks of life. Today, although some people have left and some have stayed, I cannot do without their help and support during my sailing in the past six months. It is also a kind of fate to be able to sail together on this small sailboat!

Now I am about to arrive in Zhuhai, and I will return to Qingdao soon. I can’t hide my excitement. I will soon be able to see my long-lost relatives and friends. This schedule can also be regarded as a milestone in my six-month voyage. Bar! Come on Qingdao!
