Doing rodeo in a washing machine!

Hello everybody,

Today our happy daily hour meeting focused on the sea and sailing conditions expected for the next three to 4four coming days. Forecast actually are showing strong wind from north (30-35 knots.) This means the boat healing at 45 degrees, in bumpy condition, up down and sideways kicking.

Life on board is looking to be quite challenging and uncomfortable.

Cooking needs to be minimised and food simple, easy to prepare and eat. Sea sickness tablets are recommended for everybody, prior to hitting the storm.

Going to the heads (toilet) on a moving seat healing at 45 degrees needs no more details, you can see the picture! Sleeping is not going to be easy either, as you can’t stop moving as being stuck at the bottom of a narrow V shape bed with a lee cloth to prevent you from falling down on the floor. Make sure all your belongings and everything on board is very well tied up and attached because you are going to have a terrible mess on board if you don’t.

On deck, expect to be cold and wet. Your focus will become more and more difficult as you get more and more tired. You need to be more than ever concerned about your security (double clip all the time, potential sources of injuries, life jacket well fitted … keep an eye on each other all the time ...) expect hard work: moving on the boat, putting up and down different sail settings, trimming …

The positive aspect of this strong wind and difficult conditions of sailing is that it will allow us to move our boat forward more rapidly towards our goals, and hopefully ahead of other teams who won’t face the same conditions.

Doing rodeo in a washing machine is often part of the price to pay to achieve any goal in life.

I made the choice to enjoy every moment of my life, even in the stormy days, and I wish you the same.

Have a wonderful day.
