The 90’s Decade cafe has opened again today with myself and Charles serving up a hearty breakfast to its eager clientele. Porridge, fruit and toast with copious amounts of condiments; Nutella and peanut butter being the clear favourites. The bread baking has been variable, some good risers and few that fell flat which we have named rustic Bavarian boulder bread, solid and filling. The cakes have gone rather better following the toffee banana cake on last weeks watch and today we are going for a “show stopper” lemon drizzle.

We will be serving up hits of the 90’s with our lunch menu of tuna and sweetcorn wraps with soup. It’s currently very wet on deck with spray and breaking waves so I’m sure this will be much needed. Our classical dinner was well received last week and this evening we will be welcoming our dining guests with some mellow jazz ambience and cottage pie will be returning to the menu due to popular demand hopefully with a lemon drizzle dessert (hopefully).

Outside of the relative calm of the galley it’s been a full-on week, with a good deal of sun, wind and squalls to contend with keeping our reefing drills up to speed. There have been dark moonless nights requiring Jedi like helming and big surfing conditions which allowed us to get our fastest boat speed yet. Everyone is helping each other and the team spirit is amazing resulting in harmony and also good boat speeds.

A shorter blog this time, Charles and I need to get dinner ready and the important music playlist ready for our evening diners. I hope everyone following us is well and thank you for your support, we will keep trying our best for the boat and team and keep pushing on towards Fremantle.

Bye for now, perhaps a noughties music mix next mother watch…

… quick addition as I have some time before the blogs are sent… woke this morning after a great mother watch sleep – excellent work by the overnight watches - to a happy breakfast gathering, calmer seas and beautiful sunshine – life is good – living the dream!
