Seabirds as seen from the deck of Zhuhai from 11 May until 15 May, 2024, offshore along the coast of Mexico approximately 200 nautical miles from land. The following findings as listed below:
11May
A pair of red footed boobies, ‘Sula Sula’ were in close proximity and were observed late into the afternoon.
12 May
A family of three masked boobies (two parents and a juvenile), ‘Sula dactylatra’ were observed for most of the day.
13 May
A pair of Leach’s storm-petrels, ‘Oceanodroma leucorhoa,’ were observed flying south later in the morning.
14 May
Two adult black-vented shearwaters, ‘Puffness p. opisthomalas’ followed Zhuhai after midday.
14 and 15 May
Two adult and one juvenile brown boobies, ‘Sula leucogaster’ followed Zhuhai both days.
All these birds, not only being beautiful in flight, were so in tune with each other when flying. They are such majestic offshore birds, mostly likely only seen at sea :)
