Clipper Ventures announces partnership with Ocean Safety Ltd
Back to archiveClipper Ventures, organiser of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race has signed a two-race deal with Ocean Safety Ltd, the UK’s largest independent marine safety equipment supplier. Ocean Safety will provide a full range of safety equipment to each of the 12 brand new Clipper 70 yachts; the largest matched fleet of ocean racers that will circumnavigate the world during the Clipper 13-14 Race.
Preparation of the new, faster ocean racing yachts for the August 2013 UK start includes the fit-out of vital lifesaving products. Ocean Safety will leave nothing to chance to protect the amateur sailors that will crew each boat; the company is supplying liferafts, Kannad EPIRBs, lifebuoy lights, lifebuoys, survival suits, flares, radar reflectors, fire extinguishers, thermal protective suits, grab bags and more. Ocean Safety has also developed a custom lifejacket that will meet all the highest safety requirements and is tailored to streamline into the crew technical clothing colours and textures.
Founder of Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said: “With a race that takes on the most dangerous oceans in the world safety has to be a prime concern. We are delighted to welcome Ocean Safety as a partner.”
Clipper Ventures is working closely with Ocean Safety to ensure that the safety regulations of the 40,000-mile Clipper 13-14 Race are accurately met. The company will also be providing training for safety and survival and will supply a service package.
