Crews shave off moustaches raising money for Movember
Back to archiveClipper Race crew with the most creative moustaches have had them shaved off, raising money for the international Movember campaign and the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, the official charity of the race.
The crew members grew moustaches whilst they battled against the Southern Ocean during Race 4 from Cape Town, South Africa to Albany, Western Australia.
Neil Bennett, Mark Pigram, Rob Fisher, Andrew Taylor, Jim Bennett, Nick Golding and James Hendry had their moustaches shaved off by local hairdresser Tony's Hair and Skincare at the Albany Clipper Maritime Festival, raising $315 for the charities.
Henri Lloyd crew member Nick Golding had all his hair shaved off after donations came in from the crowd. He said: “I have been sporting some funny facial hair for the last four weeks and it is a relief to get rid of it. However, I will be wearing a hat for the next month while the hair on my head grows back.”
The crew members were also given a Redken For Men pack by Antonio and Giuseppe at Tony's for some pampering after a tough Leg 3 race.
The annual Movember campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for men’s health - specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.
