Penalty points applied to fleet
Back to archiveRace Director Justin Taylor has informed the fleet of the penalty points they have incurred during Legs 2 and 3 due to damage to the boats, equipment and sails during racing - shaking up the leaderboard once again.
The Race Committee keep a running total of the total costs of lost and damaged equipment and impose penalties points as required.
Race Director, Justin Taylor, said, “The penalty points system is a way promoting good seamanship by reminding and encouraging the fleet to look after their equipment and sails. In this case the penalty points have really impacted the positions on the overall leaderboard.”
The penalty points mean that Derry~Londonderry~Doire has moved into third place with GREAT Britain slipping into fourth position. To view the overall race standings and applied penalty points please click here
The points are not allocated when the damage is done but when it is repaired or replaced. Leg 4 (Races 5, 6 and 7) are still to be calculated and damage for Races 1 and 2 has already been applied.
Leg 2 and 3 penalty points have been deducted as follows:
CV20 - 2 points for sail damage
CV21 - 1 point for boat and/or equipment damage
CV22 - 1 point for boat and/or equipment damage and 2 points for sail damage
CV23 - 1 point for boat and/or equipment damage
CV24 - 1 point for boat and/or equipment damage
CV25 - 2 point for boat and/or equipment damage
CV26 - 2 point for boat and/or equipment damage and 2 points for sail damage,
CV27 - 0 points
CV28 - 1 point for boat and/or equipment damage
CV29 - 2 point for boat and/or equipment damage and 4 points for sail damage
CV30 - 1 point for boat and/or equipment damage
CV31 - 2 point for boat and/or equipment damage.
