PRIZE GIVING PARTY JAMAICA STYLE
Back to archiveJamaica knows how to throw a party and tonight’s prize giving ceremony proved it with a spectacular evening. Hundreds of crew and special guests celebrated in style as the podium pennants for Race 11 - the PSP Logistics Panama 100 Cup and Race 12 - the Spirit of Jamaica Chase, were presented to the winning teams.
The evening was hosted by the Jamaican Tourist Baord at the tropical island location of the Kenwright Pier beach, next to Errol Flynn Marina. The festivities included a complimentary bar, courtesy of Appleton's Rum, Jamaican cuisine stations and reggae entertainment by The Jolly Boys and Rootz Underground.
Henri Lloyd’s latest win, one of the closest yet by just 31 seconds, strengthens their lead in the overall race standings with a total of 120.9 points, just under 9 points ahead of second place GREAT Britain with 112 points. Clinging onto third place is OneDLL with 104 points which, together with Derry~Londonderry~Doire sitting in fourth with 97 points, had a disappointing run into Jamaica after recent good form, finishing in seventh and ninth places respectively.
After claiming a podium finish in third place into Jamaica, Switzerland is now just ten points behind in fifth place with 87 points and Qingdao is sitting in sixth on 79 points. The full race standing table can be viewed here
There are still around 60 points up for grabs in the remaining races so the closing stages of the Clipper 2013-14 Race are set to continue to be fiercely competitive and gripping as the final stages play out.
