“The biggest adventure!”
Back to archiveClipper 11-12 crew member, Beulah Steele, took time from her busy jet setting schedule as a British Airways stewardess to inspire colleagues to step up to the plate and sign up for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Beulah accompanied David Cusworth, Clipper Race Crew Recruitment Manager to Heathrow’s Terminal 5 to speak to fellow British Airways employees.
The 25-year-old competed in two legs of the 2011-12 edition of the Clipper Race, taking on the challenge of the Southern Ocean and was excited to tell her colleagues about the opportunities the race offers.
“I chose to do the two toughest legs of the race, because it’s the supreme challenge. The biggest adventure!
“My main achievement is crossing the Southern Ocean, surviving, finding the courage, motivation and the determination. It’s the ultimate achievement!” continues Beulah.
“The parts of the race that I’ll never forget would be getting into Western Australia after four weeks at sea, seeing no land and then arriving at Geraldton; you could smell the land. When I saw it on the horizon – it was just amazing!”
