The crew of Jamaica Get All Right, which arrived in Cape Town last night, paused from deep clean duties today to welcome in the penultimate team to finish, Mission Performance.

Jamaica Get All Right crossed the line in Table Bay yesterday at 2057 UTC (2257 local). Skipper Pete Stirling commented, “It’s fantastic to arrive into Cape Town. It was a hard upwind beat out of Rio for a few days, but the morale on board really changed when we decided to go for the Scoring Gate which we won.

“Overall we finished in tenth position, but I’m pretty happy the way we sailed the boat,finishing the race in fifteen days is still a fast time.”

Mission Performance crossed the line at 1022 UTC (1222 local) after crawling in light airs before a final flourish gave them the boost they needed to cross the line.

Skipper Matt Mitchell was very pleased to be in Cape Town despite the challenging leg, “The Race from Cape Town to Rio was a really exciting one. We started off really well, but we encountered a few problems along the way which saw us lose our position in the race and slip to the back of the fleet. We’re looking forward to a day or two of rest, then we will start to turn our attentions to Race 4”

Qingdao has accepted twelfth place and is now using its engine to make best speed in very light winds. The team are estimated to be alongside in the V&A Waterfront by around 1730 local (1530 UTC)
