22-24 July: Join us at America’s Cup World Series, Portsmouth
20 July 2016
With a week to go until the Clipper Race fleet and its non-professional crew complete its circumnavigation of the world, we are at the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in Portsmouth to celebrate all things sailing and meet the next generation of ocean racers.
Unlike the America’s Cup contenders, no experience is
necessary to take part in the 11-month, 40,000 nautical mile Clipper Race, just
a thirst for adventure for anyone over the age of 18. From 22-24 July, 1100 to 1830
we’ll be at the Clipper Race stand in the marketplace to answer your questions
about ocean racing, the selection process, training, the race, the fleet,
stopovers, personal logistics and most importantly the race crew.
If ocean racing isn’t for you but you would like to get out on the water, our Clipper Events team will also be on hand on Friday 22 July to
talk to about chartering our unique fleet of ocean racing yachts or to
participate in an iconic regatta with us, such as Cowes Week or the Rolex
Sydney Hobart Yacht Race!
Returning to Portsmouth, the America’s Cup World Series will see five time Olympic Gold Medallist Sir Ben Ainslie and his BAR team face challengers from Artemis, Oracle Team USA, Emirates New Zealand Team, Team Japan and Team France in its bid to return the America’s Cup to the Solent after 165 years. Watch the spectacular racing as the competing catamarans reach up to 50 mph speeds.
Explore the Race Village which contains family friendly features and exciting interactive content focused on the sport of sailing, the technology, the teams, the history and the sailors. There will be a main stage with a full programme of entertainment and large screens with commentary to keep you updated on the action.
If you would like to visit us to discover how you could race the world’s oceans, join us at the red Clipper Race dome and meet our intrepid crew. Come along on a discounted ticket, exclusive to Clipper Race friends, family and fans. To get yours click here, quoting CLIPPERRACE2016.
