Bekezela Accepts 11th Position for Race 6

Bekezela has contacted the Clipper Race Office to request eleventh place in Race 6, Newcastle to Airlie Beach. This was a team decision and will help Bekezela maximise its time in the stopover.

Race Director, Mark Light has accepted and confirmed the team’s the decision. Bekezela can now make best speed to Airlie Beach using all available means.

The team will divert from the original race course as laid out in the Course Instructions and take the passage north of Pentecost Island and south of Hamilton Island / Dent Island and into the Whitsunday Passage rounding North Molle Island to the north before heading into Pioneer Bay. This is approximately 13nm shorter and will help to save approximately two hours.

The team is expected to arrive into Airlie Beach at approximately 0330 local time on Wednesday 17 January.
