Fancy winning the world’s longest ocean race?
23 December 2014
Australians have an impressive history in the Clipper Race with Australian yachts winning two of nine editions of the 40,000 mile ocean odyssey.
Clipper Ventures Australia’s MD Kirsty Whyte is on the hunt for Australians looking to push their limits with a series of recruitment talks being held across the country and in New Zealand in January, February and March of 2015.
Kirsty, a winning crew member in the Clipper 09-10 Race on board Spirit of Australia, said: “I am looking for Australians with a zest for life and a hunger for adventure and challenge.
“No sailing experience is needed as we will provide three of the four compulsory levels of training from our Sydney base. We will make it happen for you.”
To find the next generation of ocean racers, Kirsty will be visiting Newcastle, Canberra, Cairns, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Auckland and Wellington. If you would like the talk to be held at your yacht club, business or company, please contact Kirsty.
The 2015-16 race is now 80 per cent full, with some legs totally filled and recruiting has also commenced for the 2017-18 race.
You can sign up for one or more legs or the full round the world race which takes 11 months to complete.
67 Australians from across the country took part in the Clipper 2013-14 Race and the race visited four Australian cities as part of Leg 4.
The fleet will return to Australia next year in the 2015-16 edition, including to take part in the famous Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
If you would like more information about the race and how to sign up, or to book your training courses at our Australian base, please contact Kirsty on [email protected] or +61 2 9363 2020.
