Garmin yacht named ahead of second-time entry in Clipper Race

Garmin, the global GPS technology company, has named its yacht entry ahead of its start in the Clipper 2015-16 Race.
Following the brand’s successful sponsorship in the last edition of the race,the Garmin yacht and her crew will represent the world’s leading manufacturers of navigation and electronics products in the marine, automotive, aviation, outdoor and fitness markets.
Clipper Race Founder and Chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston christened the Clipper 70, along with Mattias Daldborg, EMEA Marketing & Communications Manager for Garmin, Marine, at the Race Village in St Katharine Docks.
Mattias said: "Everyone at Garmin is really excited to be involved in the race again and to promoting our products in the key ports round the world. We wish everyone on board the best of luck, and we will be following your progress avidly."
Garmin crew member Jack Chidley said: "I have used many of the Garmin cycling, running and multi-sport products to track my progress when I have competed in Iron Man and Triathlon competitions, so I am really excited to be on the Garmin boat. The sponsorship is such a great fit as it is directly relevant to sport and sailing. I have had really good experiences with the product support team and am proud to be representing the brand."
Garmin British Skipper Ashley Skett, 31, will lead his team round the world when the race starts on Sunday 30 August. He added his whole team is raring to go now. And asked about their goal, he said: "We are going to win!"
The race’s crew and Skippers will use and test Garmin products such as its marine navigation equipment, VIRB action cameras and fitness trackers during the circumnavigation.
Garmin is also the Official Marine Electronics Partner of the Clipper Race.
