Hyde Sails to Power Clipper 2017-18 Round The World Yacht Race

One of the world’s largest volume sail producers, Hyde Sails, will once again be powering the Clipper Race fleet, after signing on as the Official Sail Partner for the 2017-18 edition of the biennial race.

As one of the largest volume sailmakers worldwide and with more than 50 years of experience, Hyde Sails is ideally placed to fulfil the demanding needs of the eleven month, 40,000 nautical mile race across the world’s oceans.

You would need almost three Premiership Football pitches to lay out the sails on board just one of the Clipper 70s. To handle the varied conditions during the global adventure, each of the twelve Clipper 70 yachts carry a sail wardrobe of eleven different sails; including a Mainsail, Staysail, Windseeker, Yankee 1, 2 and 3, as well as a heavy, medium and lightweight spinnaker. In total, the combined sail area across the entire fleet is 197, 616ft².
