Imagine your Korea Race Finish Update
30 July 2022
JULY 31
After enjoying the celebrations yesterday afternoon, the Imagine your Korea team returned to their yacht and then departed Ipswich in the early hours of this morning. The team is making good progress towards London and is expected to arrive outside the entrance to London’s Royal Docks at around 1500, to enter King George V lock at 1530. Subject to London City airport clearance, the yacht will then join the fleet in Royal Albert Dock at approximately 1600. If airport clearance changes, there may be a delay in entering Royal Albert Dock, and the yacht would be held in the entrance lock, we will keep you updated should this happen.
JULY 30
Since Imagine your Korea’s acceptance of eleventh place in Race 15, the Clipper Race Office has been in regular communication with the team’s Skipper, Rob Graham and First Mate, John Chambers, regarding their expected arrival into London, for Race Finish on Saturday 30 July.
Having monitored the yacht's speed and the conditions ahead, calculations reflect that Imagine your Korea will not make the Parade of Sail or Race Finish Prizegiving ceremony as planned with the rest of the fleet on Saturday 30 July.
The Race Office is making plans for Imagine your Korea to dock, and berth overnight if needed, in Ipswich, on the east coast of the UK. The yacht will refuel whilst berthed and we are making best efforts to get the crew to Prizegiving. A number of crew have indicated that they may like to stay on board to complete the circumnavigation, we are looking to support them in their wishes.
Plans are being made within the Race Finish celebrations schedule to mark the team’s arrival and achievements.
