Race 10 Update
15 March 2020
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak worldwide, there have been some significant restrictions made in Subic Bay, Philippines where Race 9 finishes. Therefore, the Clipper Race Organising Committee is aiming to start Race 10 earlier than scheduled after the present stopover.
The stopover in Subic Bay, will ensure the deep clean of the yachts and give time for scheduled maintenance and provisioning for the next race. It will also allow the Race Crew, Skippers and AQPs to rest and recuperate. In light of the reduced schedule, Race 9 Prizegiving has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a dual celebration of Races 9 and 10 in the next stopover.
The Clipper Race fleet will aim to leave Subic Bay on 19 March, but the situation will be monitored carefully.
Due to the intended earlier start, the fleet will depart Subic Bay Yacht Club, sail up the coast of Luzon where, once clear of the island, Race 10 will commence with a Le Mans start. Full details will be issued in the Race 10 Course Instructions.
Race 10 is the second stage of Leg 6 and will see the crew cross the North Pacific Ocean towards Seattle. The arrival window for Race 10 remains unaffected.
