During each stage of the Clipper Race, teams can accrue extra bonus points above and beyond leader board position points, through a series of tactical elements. One of these is the Ocean Sprint - a time trial between two lines of longitude or two lines of latitude.

The fastest three teams gain extra race points; three for first, two for second and one for third.

The Ocean Sprint results for Race 13: Oban Atlantic Homecoming were revealed at the prizegiving celebrations in Oban last night.

The Ocean Sprint was between 25°W and 18°W and the distance on the rhumb line across was approximately 283nm. Each of the teams were served varying conditions during their Ocean Sprint depending on when they arrived at the allotted start line. For Race 13, favourable conditions were dependent on how far north the teams had positioned themselves with the northern teams clocking the fastest times.

Race 13 Ocean Sprint bonus points went to:

1st CV20 Dare To Lead 3 points

2nd CV29 PSP Logistics 2points

3rd CV22 Bekezela 1 point
