Following the nomination of Clipper 2017-18 Race Skipper Wendy Tuck for Rolex World Sailor of the Year, public voting has officially opened today, Monday 15 September.

The public vote, which contributes to 30 per cent of the overall vote, will remain open on World Sailing's website until Monday 29 October. World Sailing’s Member National Authorities will make up the final 70 per cent.

53-year-old Clipper Race Skipper Wendy Tuck from Sydney, Australia, became the first female Skipper to win a round the world yacht race when she led Chinese team entry Sanya Serenity Coast to victory on 28 July.

Not only did Wendy set records during the 2017-18 edition, she also became the first Australian Skipper to compete in the Clipper Race twice after previously leading a team in the 2015-16 edition. But before setting off on a second Clipper Race, Wendy rang in 2017 by achieving her life-long goal of making the CYCA honours list, after competing in a tenth Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

The winners of the Rolex World Sailor of the Year will be announced on 30 October.
