GREAT BRITISH BUSINESS

Race Partner, the GREAT Britain campaign, used the Race Start in Liverpool to reaffirm the Government’s commitment to the Northern Powerhouse initiative. Hosting their third quarterly meeting in Liverpool with the new Northern Powerhouse Minister Jake Berry MP, and Mark Garnier MP, Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for the Department for International Trade.

Hosted at TATE Liverpool, this partner event, which brought together over 70 Northern Powerhouse business leaders, was an opportunity to showcase the international potential for the region before heading to the GREAT Britain yacht for its official naming ceremony and networking opportunities.

The event was also attended by Liverpool Vision Chief Executive, Max Steinburg, who used the opportunity as a platform to engage with the international audience of the race and invite them to participate in the worlds’ largest business event, the International Festival of Business, which is hosted by Liverpool in June 2018, just ahead of the fleet’s return in July.

Then on Saturday, in partnership with the Clipper Race, the GREAT campaign hosted an evening reception to celebrate the international success of the Clipper 2017-18 Race, and showcase some of the UK’s biggest ever exports. Partners of the campaign were able to provide various different showcase items that profiled in some way the UK’s world leading products and services.
