INTERNATIONAL DELEGATIONS

The Clipper 2017-18 Race Start proved to be one of great international success, with delegations travelling from Sanya, Seattle, Qingdao and Uruguay, and more locally, Northern Ireland, to be part of it. This created the opportunity for delegates to network and gain business insight into both the world of the Clipper Race but also that of other race partners.

The Sanya delegation took the opportunity to arrange several business networking meetings in order to maximise their time in Liverpool; meeting with the Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, Ralph Morton Seattle Sports Commission and Mark Garnier, MP and Minister for International Trade. Each meeting gave Sanya the opportunity to discuss partnership collaboration and share knowledge of both the Clipper Race and their own race objectives.

Commodore Juan Etcheverrito Zerboni of Punta del Este Yacht Club travelled to Liverpool in order to experience the event as the excitement builds in Uruguay. To mark the occasion the Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, passed on the baton to Punta del Este as Leg 2 Host Port.

The number of delegations and race partners in Liverpool also provided the perfect opportunity to host a Partners Forum. The theme of which was centered around Partnership Activation and Collaboration, the format for the event was a roundtable discussion enabling partners to share their key objectives as Race Partners, their thoughts surrounding activation and begin conversations surrounding collaborations.

As part of this we heard some exciting partnership collaborative ideas from partner such as Hotelplanner.com, Liverpool 2018 and Elliott Brown, and we look forward to bringing these ideas to life across the Race Schedule.
