Hey!
It's a short blog today as there's not really much changing and as we are in Stealth Mode, I’m not too inclined to chat about our tactics and sailing ;)
Another couple of days have flown by, we're really getting into the meat of this leg but also definitely starting to get to the point where all the days just blur into one. The crew has all nicely settled into the routine now, eat, sleep, sail repeat, and the galley has been putting out some excellent meals, a highlight has been Tom’s spaghetti bolognese and the nibbly bits lunch we had that involved a large assortment of meats and cheeses.
Some immediate entertainment has just come in the form of the crew having just been introduced to flying squid! For those uninitiated, in warmer waters squids have a tendency to jump out the water when they feel threatened, they can get quite high too, I’ve had some jump four or five metres up to land in boom covers for main sails, only to be discovered weeks after they jumped in, there normally about 20cm in length and despite what you’d think aren’t actually too slimy, they're much easier to pick up and throw back than flying fish. We’ve just had our first few attacks, a couple landed on the deck and on Charlotte who was trimming the kite, much to her shock but amusement to the rest of the crew. We’ll start seeing a lot more of them as we go further south into warmer waters, I can't wait to find them in the sails after a couple of days baking in the sun, yum.
