The past couple of days have left little wind and thus, little inspiration for today’s blog. So instead I decided, as we’re winding down towards the end of this edition of the Clipper Race, I’d look back at some of the fun we’ve had on the past lap or so around the sun.
This year has been full of adventures and stories. You may think I’m talking about the kind that includes 6 metre Pacific waves, epic helming sessions in 35kts with spinnakers, the kitemares that can follow or heroic foredeck evolutions, but I’m not talking about the sailing. I’m talking about the stopovers.
We’re lucky enough to stop in some incredible places on the Clipper Race and if you’re inventive enough you can even add in a couple more. We’ve had legendary nights out in Cadiz and Airlie Beach (you know which AQP you are), enjoyed a beautiful arboretum walk in Punta Del Este, gone on a multitude of idyllic Australian beach trips, seen MMA in Bangkok, beaten the hotel casino in Ha Long Bay (ish), been beaten by the casinos in Macau, had a kickabout in Zhuhai, seen concerts in Seattle, road tripped to Nashville, Lime scootered around DC to our hearts’ content and soon we’ll enjoy the fruits of what Oban has to offer.
I’ve even left off a few things, but to the AQP’s that have made this year what it’s been, helped each other through the hard times and made the most of the good ones, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for, in the build up and during the race, contributing to and creating some cracking memories. So, thank you, in boat order, to Charlie, Tom, Maisie, Joss, Mikey, Angoose, Stevie, Henry, Laura, Lottie and Ella.
