Hello Qingers!
It’s the next episode of the North Atlantic saga. To be honest, there’s not much to report from this end.
Since you last heard from us things have been progressing much the same as they have been. We are sitting behind the leading pack of four, and trying to find ways to reel them in, however it is proving difficult at the minute. At our last report there was only 14 miles between first and fifth. Close racing after so many miles.
We did have a period of slow speeds due to some counter current. We knew it was coming but it was the lesser of two evils. Either travel another 50 miles to totally avoid it, or ‘suck it up’ and go a bit slower. We reckoned that going slower would hurt less.
We had a bit of a celebration for Independence Day with special foods and a hoisting of the American flag again. Happy birthday America.
On the wildlife front we have had many pods of dolphins passing by and around the boat. Never get tired of seeing dolphins performing some acrobatics.
Up ahead we have a high pressure which will bring light winds and possible, you guessed it, wind holes.
With about 1,200 miles to go along the rhumb line there’s still all to play for and with such a close pack just some miles away all we can do is try to get through the holes and light winds as best we can.
That's you about up to date for now.
Talk soon.
Love to those at home,
Phil, Henry and the dragon riders
