We are in a lovely rhythm on board UNICEF. Having sailed over 2500nm with this Leg 4 team, there has been a clear groove established and the crew are functioning like a well-oiled machine.

It is a really refreshing pace change to the usual first couple of days of a race. We are happy with our position on the eastern end of the East Australian Current and hope to see some good boat speeds over the next day before we navigate our first wind hole, which is sitting above course mark Hallatt. We have been neck and neck with Dare To Lead and are very much enjoying the team’s competitive company.

This blog also has a special shout out – during the stopover, my friend Patrick (sorry, Mr Lynn now ;)) dropped me a message to say that his primary school class was reading Kensuke’s Kingdom and following along with our race. Firstly, GREAT book choice. My favourite Michael Morpurgo book (along with the Wreck of Zanzibar and Running Wild). It is about a young boy sailing around the world with his family on their boat the Peggy Sue. I also crazily read that book when I was in the summer of P6/P7 and never thought I would be doing it in my 20’s! So, to Mr. Lynn’s P7 class at Ballymacash Primary School, enjoy reading, following along on the Race Viewer, and dream big! The UNICEF team love having your support. :)
