After motor sailing from Airlie Beach to Mackay to clear out of Australia we then motor sailed approximately 120nm out through the Great Barrier Reef, where we started Race 7 with our first Le Mans Start since leaving Portsmouth.
This way to start the race is just as spectacular as the line starts that we have done up until now. With a clear sunny day and decent wind, the whole fleet lined up two boat lengths apart all heading at the same speed in the same direction, then on the count the crew all rushed forward and hoisted the headsails. The race is on to be the first boat with all the sails up and trimmed properly. It’s great having all the boats drag racing so closely together.
Cheers
