Here we are absolutely sending it with 30 knots of wind and gusts over 40 knots. But what a change over the last couple of days, which have been very frustrating; we invested early to go west seeing in the forecast more consistent winds to take us through the Ocean Sprint, and onto Washington. However, what we did find was wind hole after wind hole, each time the wind picked up, we were sure this was the transition and off we would go – just to be frustrated by another shift and wind drop.
During this we have had countless headsail changes, Code 2 to Wind Seeker to Yankee 1 and back again – the whole crew have jumped on this every time without a single complaint, just directing their frustration at the weather!
To add to this frustration earlier we saw Washington, DC sailing along at 5 knots while we were parked at 1 knot less than two miles away……..
As we’re looking forward to seeing you in Washington in a few days I’ll sign off and get back to sending it to try and make some places back.
Nano
PS: As I was about to send this, we just had to call all hands-on deck to drop Code 3 and hoist the Yankee: again, no complaints from this awesome crew
