So, with the final hundred or so miles of the race left to go, it’s all getting a little bit close. After some very un-stealthy Stealth Mode’ing (we could see Yacht Club Punta del Este for the whole thing, not sure if they noticed us though) we are now in a drag race with everybody to the final mark before the Finish Line. After the mark, however, looks like it’s going to be a different story, as rather predictably the Finish Line is now situated at the bottom of an enormous windhole, with only the faintest of zephyrs forecasted to appear fleetingly in the Firth of Lorn over the coming days. Coupled with the inevitability of the tide, it could make for a very, very relaxing final 40nm, with everybody in the fleet within hours of each other executing the sailing equivalent of diving headfirst into an inch of water. With the final section potentially a bit of a coin toss (although you tend to know the result of a coin toss quite quickly, unless you lose the coin) it’s still anyone’s game. The crew have sailed fantastically to get us back in the thick of it and I really, really hope we get a result, but time will tell. So, it looks like it’s going to be windseekers at dawn, then dusk, and then maybe dawn again! Wish us luck, because we're going to need a bit!
All the best from the crew, Mike and myself
