13-16 APRIL: JOIN US AT THE ROYAL GREENWICH TALL SHIPS FESTIVAL

The famous big red Clipper Race dome will be taking up residence at the Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Festival from the 13-16 April 2017.

Meet our intrepid alumni crew members and Clipper Race Team to learn more about how you could race across the world’s most incredible oceans.

Muchi Lukhezo will be joining the Race Team during the four day festival. Since completing Leg 5 of the Clipper 2015-16 Race he decided to follow his heart and make a career change from IT training to Renewable Energy and talks passionately about his experience of sailing from Australia to China “Leg 5, for me, delivered most of the variety of all the other legs in one. We sailed from humid summer in the south, via the doldrums and crossing the equator to blasting winter in the north. Sailing conditions varied across the full spectrum. I feel like a thoroughly satisfied graduate of a yacht-racing academy, with life-long alumnus membership. As an investment in a life-experience, it was worth every penny!”

Without equal, the race is a powerful blend of fiercely intense competition and stirring human endeavour. The only event of its kind for amateur sailors; no experience is required as full training is provided. It brings together everyone from chief executives to taxi drivers, nurses and firefighters, farmers and students from age 18 upwards, who work together as a team to take on Mother Nature’s toughest conditions around the world.

Whilst on dry land, visit the dome to experience a small part of the race with our VR headsets, ask our crew members anything about their race experience and find out how you can take part in the 2017-18 edition. This’ll be the first time we are part of the jam-packed four days of international ship-themed entertainment, music and fireworks which will light up Tall Ships Festival. Over Easter 2017, around 40 ships will join the Rendez-Vous Tall Ships Regatta 2017 to celebrate 150 years of the Canadian Confederation, in a breath-taking sail from the shores of Royal Greenwich to the heart of Quebec.

Get on board some of the biggest Tall Ships in the world and make a day of it visiting the Clipper Race dome and all the other exciting attractions whilst in the beautiful setting of Royal Greenwich’s stunning architecture and historic town centres.

You can find us at the National Maritime exhibition area, located on the King Charles Lawn (NW), Old Royal Naval College on stand 4, from 11am – 6.30pm each day.
