GRA to lead the way in ultimate offshore challenge
Grahame Robb Associates (GRA) will return as the Official Learning and Development Supplier for the Clipper 2025-26 Race, continuing its role in preparing Race Skippers and First Mates with expert leadership training ahead of the next global ocean adventure.
For the third consecutive edition, GRA will deliver a bespoke leadership and team development programme at its Outdoor Centre in Reading. The training is designed to hone pre-existing leadership skills, and will focus on resilience, teamwork, and decision-making in high-pressure environments, critical for successfully navigating a 40,000-nautical-mile circumnavigation.

Grahame Robb, Managing Director of Grahame Robb Associates Ltd said:
We are delighted to be supporting the Clipper 2025-26 Race as the Learning and Development Supplier for the third consecutive edition. Our goal is to enhance leadership and team behaviours, enabling Skippers and First Mates to build effective, sustainable relationships and winning cultures.
“The Clipper Race represents one of the world’s most demanding human relations challenges. We will apply over 30 years of leadership and team development experience to help them fulfil their full potential on this journey of a lifetime.”
As part of the programme, GRA will also support the matching process between Skippers and First Mates to establish strong working relationships. This year, there will be an increased focus on collaboration, ensuring the sailing professionals on board work effectively together to maximise performance and create a successful race experience.
Dale Smyth, Clipper Race Director said:
Each of our Race Skippers and First Mates undergoes a rigorous selection process, and are selected based on their seamanship, leadership, and interpersonal skills. These are qualities essential for successfully leading a team through the highs and lows of a 40,000-nautical-mile circumnavigation. Our partnership with GRA has been essential in honing these existing skills in our professional sailing staff.
“Grahame and his team understand the unique challenges our Skippers and First Mates face in successfully leading a team around the world. Their specialised training tools will focus on breakthrough conversations, conflict resolution, resilience, and presentation skills – all required to foster a high-performing and happy team on board.
With a strong track record of delivering practical, results-driven leadership programmes to elite sports teams and corporate organisations, UK-based GRA specialises in experiential learning that drives real behavioural change. Their approach pushes individuals beyond their perceived limits, unlocking new strengths and capabilities.
