Euronav Limited appointed as Navigation and Chart Supplier
Back to archiveClipper Ventures Plc is proud to announce that Euronav Limited has been appointed as the official navigation and charting systems supplier for the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race.
This will mark the sixth consecutive time Euronav Limited has supplied the official navigation and charting systems for the Clipper Race. The state of the art equipment will enable the brand new matched fleet of 12, 70ft racing yachts competing in the ninth edition of the race to sail faster and more efficiently during the 11 month, 40,000-mile global challenge.
SeaPro is a complete navigation and charting system, which combines GPS, AIS, RADAR, tides and weather routing into a single, easy to use PC based package.
The navigating and charting system provides circle planning, route optimisation (taking wind and tides into account) and automatic Polar based performance monitoring. Other features of SeaPro include visual tools such as geographic wind direction, tacking angles and laylines, allowing the Clipper Race fleet the maximum information by simply looking at the screen.
Chairman and founder of the Clipper Race, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said: “I’m very pleased to announce that for the sixth consecutive Clipper Race SeaPro will be guiding the fleet safely around the globe.
“Every entry in the Clipper 13-14 Race will be doing all they can to claim the first podium position on the new Clipper 70, and I feel very reassured that SeaPro will be there to guide them on their way.”
SeaPro is used worldwide in both the leisure and commercial sectors, from coastal cruising to ocean passages. Euronav Limited customers range from small yachts to cruise liners, from Navy Fleets to oil platforms.
Managing Director of Euronav, Dr Brian Morris added. “The team at Euronav are very proud to be supporting the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race for the eleventh consecutive year. The crew competing in the Clipper 13-14 Race will take on some of the most demanding oceans in the world and SeaPro navigation software will be there to show them the way.”
